Mr. James Alvin Hooker, 71, of State Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Joan and Howard Woltz Home. He was born in Stokes County on August 23, 1941 to the late Ida Mae Holt and William McKinley Hooker. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Paulette Brindle Hooker, of the home;two daughters, Deborah Hooker and fiancé, Michael Holbrook of State Road, Raynette and husband Rodney Hutchens of Siloam; a son Terry and wife Susan Hooker of Elkin; four sisters, Geneva Wolfe of Level Cross, Ruby Davis of Elkin, Gloria and husband Larry Dollyhigh of Mount Airy and Patricia and husband Junior Danley of Ararat;two brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Peggy Hooker of State Road and Leonard and Peggy Hooker of Detroit, Michigan; five grandchildren, Austin Hooker, Sharon Whitt, Jessica Waddell, Samuel Hutchens and Emma Hutchens; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Whitt, Cole Whitt and Layla Jordan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hooker was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Money and two brothers, Junior and Dan Lee Hooker. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Open Door Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Mike Martin with burial to follow. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the James Alvin Hooker Funeral Fund, c/o Moody-Davis Funeral Home P.O. Box 295 Dobson, NC 27017 to assist the family with final expenses. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their loving and compassionate care.
