Mr. James Elvis Johnson

Mr. James Elvis Johnson, age 81 of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Johnson was born in Surry County on April 20, 1932 to Troy and Surrilda Ferguson Johnson. He proudly served our country in the US Army on the front lines during the Korean War. Surviving are a daughter, Ebbla Johnson; mother of his children, Carol Ayers; a step son, Steve Goins; grandchildren, Michael Grogan, Amelia Dykes, Shannon Goins and Misty Oakley; a great grandchild, Skylar Grogan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma Taylor and Walter Wilson and Sue and Charlie Linville; brothers and sister-in-law, Truman Johnson and Burley and Shirley Johnson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brala Johnson; a son, James Elvis Johnson, Jr.; a sister, Velma Bennett and brothers, Waburn and Arvil Johnson. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Laurel Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Butch Holder and Chaplain Justin Nelson. Military honors will be presented by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home.
