Mr. James "Jim" Kirk West

Mr. James "Jim" Kirk West, age 81 of Stuart passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at the VA Center in Salem. He was born in Kentucky on Jan. 14, 1933 to the late Chester Foy West and Edith Kirk West. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 stationed at Fort Knox, KY and in Korea. He had retired as the owner of James K. West Machine Co., Inc. in Newport News. He was a charter member of Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Williamsburg.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Betty Mae Roberson West of the home; one daughter and son in law, Donna Kirk and Mark Stoessner of Kitty Hawk, NC; one son and daughter in law, Robert "Bob" Foy and Sonnie West of Williamsburg; four grandchildren, Christopher James Stoessner, Matthew Kirk Stoessner; Candice Marie West-Rivers, David Bailey; and five great grandchildren, Joseph Rivers, James Rivers, Alyssa Rivers, Sara Stoessner, and Madisyn Stoessner.
Pallbearers are Christopher Stoessner, Matthew Stoessner, Jerry Wood, Lee Hill, Bruce Burnette, George Rivers and Johnnie Roberson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 6:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Jim Churchwell officiating. A flag presentation will be held by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
