Mr. James Warren Wood, Sr

Mr. James Warren Wood, Sr., age 93 of Martinsville passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. He was born on May 4, 1922 in Patrick County to the late William "Bill" James Wood, Jr. and Sallie Dalton Wood. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Lois Spencer Wood, whom he loving called "Sugar Lump" (May 16th would have been their 73rd wedding anniversary); one sister, Nancy Wood Shelton; and four brothers, Irving Lester Wood, William Akers Wood, Richard Leon Wood and Alvis Hamon Wood. James served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II, had retired from Bassett Mirror Company after more than 40 years, and was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church.

He is survived by one son, James "Jim" W. Wood, Jr. of Cary, North Carolina; one daughter, Marcia Wood Jones and husband, Michael of Patrick Springs; one grandson, Christopher M. Jones of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one granddaughter, Erin J. Carroll and husband, Lewis of Patrick Springs; and one sister-in-law, Jean Wood of Martinsville.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with pastor Jim Pence officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
