Mr. Jeffery Lee Bates

Mr. Jeffery Lee Bates, age 53, of Dobson, NC passed away at his home on Monday morning June 12, 2017. He was born in Surry Co. on August 30, 1963 to the late Joanna Bates Hutchens. He attended Stony Knoll United Methodist Church, retired from NC DOT after becoming disabled, served with South Surry Fire Department from the age of eighteen until in his late forty’s when his health would not permit him. Surviving are his two daughters and sons-in-law Leanna Bates and Robert White, Rebecca Bates and Ryan Trent, all of Elkin; four grandchildren Baden and Davian White, Allison and Savanah Trent; the mother of his children Michele Cherney, of State Road; his aunt Margaret Bates of Elkin. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm at the South Surry Fire Department (Stony Knoll), 3124 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC . Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Bates Family. No services will be held at the funeral home.
