Mr Jesse William "Buck" Edwards

Mr. Jesse William "Buck" Edwards, 85, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born August 11, 1929, in Surry County, to the late Carl William and Julia Ann Bunker Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a veteran of the United States Army Rangers during the Korean Conflict and retired from the North Carolina Highway Patrol after 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Collins Edwards of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Bucky Shannon and Josh Haga of Raleigh; a son, William David Edwards of Roanoke, VA; four grandchildren, Sean Edwards of Christiansburg, VA, Zack Haga and Madison Haga, both of Raleigh, and Jesse Edwards, III of Colorado. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death a son, Buck Edwards, Jr. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Joe Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017; or a charity of the donor's choice.
