Mr. Jesse W. Williams

Mr. Jesse Woodrow Williams, age 76 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on November 3, 1937 to the late Woodrow T. and Emma Nell Jones Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Lee Williams and Johnnie Williams. He served in the United States Army and in the National Guard, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He was a member of Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church. Jesse was active in various fields. He began his law enforcement career as a Patrolman in the City of Richmond and finished as Sheriff of Patrick County. He was Plant Manager for Nationwide Homes and was the owner/operator of Henry County Pallet Company. He was most proud of his military service that spanned over 20 years and was a member of the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy Wright Williams of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Lori Williams of Martinsville and Andy and Angelique Williams of Wake Forest, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Nicholas Williams and Nathan Williams; two step grandchildren, Brandon Carter and Alycia Tollison; one step great-grandchild, Ariya Tollison; six sisters, Mary Ellen Scott of Woolwine, Annette Hall of Claudville, Daisy Hylton of Woolwine, Jeanette Scott of Stuart, Joan Roop of Critz and Rachel Reynolds of Stuart; four brothers, Wade Williams of Martinsville, Jimmy Williams of Ferrum, Danny Williams of Stuart and Sammy Williams of Stuart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Kenneth Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
