Mr. Jessee Bruno Schmidt

Mr. Jesse Bruno "J. B." Schmidt, age 75 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014. Mr. Schmidt was born in Surry County on December 5, 1938 to Bruno and Eunice Epperson Schmidt. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Mr. Schmidt was a well-known musician in the area having talent to play several instruments and he also played in several musical groups over the years. Surviving are his wife, Marylee Kincaid Schmidt; daughters, Dana Schmidt and Lisa Schmidt; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Glenda Schmidt; step children, Esther Nichols, Dreama Gwyn and husband Chad, Jacky Poff and wife Emily and Martin (Marty) Nichols; three grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; a sister Dixie Cribb and a brother and sister-in-law, Oswald and Joyce Schmidt. In addition to his parents, Mr. Schmidt was preceded in death by a son, Steven Schmidt; a step son, Robby Nichols and a sister Berta Griffin. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, August 4, 2014 at Unity Church Cemetery by Rev. Tommy Shelton. The family will receive friends Monday at Moody Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 PM.
