Mr. Jessie James "Jay" Thomas

Mr. Jessie James “Jay” Thomas, age 88, of Dobson, NC passed away on Saturday February 24, 2018 at Surry Rehab in Mt. Airy. He was born in Patrick County, VA on February 2, 1930 to the late Jessie James Thomas and the late Senica “Sindy” Vernon Thomas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Childress Thomas; son Roger Thomas; sisters Merle Hull, Helen Nichols, Lillian Hall; brothers, Harold Thomas, Zeb Thomas, Cliff Thomas. Jay was a retired tobacco farmer and a member of Double Creek Church of Christ, and a veteran of the USA Army having served during WWII. Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Thomas of Pilot Mountain, Mark Thomas of Mt. Airy, Tim and Cindy Thomas of Mt. Airy, Michael and Kim Thomas of Dobson, Charlie Thomas of Dobson; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Opal Thomas of Mt. Airy; special niece, Opal Belton of Dobson; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday February 27, 2018 in Double Creek Church of Christ Cemetery, Rev. Roy Miller will conduct the graveside service. The family request in lieu of flowers Memorials be made to the Double Creek Church of Christ Cemetery C/O Joyce Hardy 646 Double Creek Rd. Dobson, NC 27017.
