Mr. Jimmy Lee Goard

Mr. Jimmy Lee Goard, age 93 of Patrick Springs, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on December 29, 1920 to the late John William and Essie Mae Goad Goard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Goard was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvis "Dicky" Goard, William J. "Buddy" Goard and Billy Goard. He had served in the United States Army during World War II and had retired from the United States Postal Service. He attended Community Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of VFW Post 7800. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed music.
Mr. Goard is survived by his wife of 71 years, Elaine Koger Goard of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda and Henry Ayers of Stuart and Sandra Blanchfield of Charlotte, North Carolina; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny Ronald and Barbara Goard of Patrick Springs; five grandchildren, Bradley G. Ayers, Brent C. Ayers, Brian A. Blanchfield, Brad Clontz and Craig Clontz; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Goard will be held Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Community Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Lewis Vass and Elder Donnie Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
