Mr. Jimmy Wayne Lawson, age 65, of Dobson, NC passed away on Thursday evening April 17, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Surry Co. on August 18, 1948 to the late Escar Claven Lawson and the late Ruth Price Childress Lawson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Lawson. He was a Truck Driver for Sexton's Trucking and also worked as a carpenter for Hutchens-Lawson Construction. He was a Veteran having served the US Air Force. He was a member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church. Surviving is his wife Faye Marion Duncan Lawson of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law Melesia and Stephan Tully of Low Gap, Cynthia and Ned Pike of Dobson, Dennette and James Hanks of Dobson; one son and daughter-in-law Travis and Patricia Duncan of Dobson; four grandchildren Ashley and husband Casey Collins, Harlan Pike, Justin and wife Tish Duncan, Devin Hanks; two great grandchildren Maverick Collins and Garrett Duncan; two sisters and brother-in-law Regina and Gary Martin of East Bend, Teresa Caputo of Yadkinville; Special aide Nelda Stanley. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday April 20, 2014 at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Lawton will conduct the services. Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2018 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Sunday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM.
