Mr. John Franklin Donithan

Mr. John Franklin Donithan, 77, of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Surry County on March 25, 1936 to the late Walter Roscoe and Malinda Goins Donithan. Mr. Donithan was retired from Golden Transportation and was a member of Blackwater Community Church. He served our country in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Morton Donithan of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark Allen and Bonnie Donithan of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren, Brian Donithan, Chrystal Thornton, Shannon Donithan, and Cody Donathan; ten great grandchildren, Brandon Thornton, Lakeland Thornton, Corbett Hodge, Zacary Thornton, Kiya Phillips, Tamarah Phillips, Tommy Phillips, Jr., Arieonna Phillips, Brayden Donithan, and Nevaeh Donithan; his special pets, Onix, Puppy, and Little Bit. In addition to his parents, Mr. Donithan was preceded in death by a son, David Donathan. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Ted Crotts officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Monday from 12:30 PM until time to depart for the graveside service.
