Mr. John Glenn Easter, 94, of High Point, formerly of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Surry County to the late Grover Cleveland and Annie McCreary Easter. Mr. Easter bravely served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired security guard and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Easter was a caring brother and a loving uncle to all his nieces and nephews. He is survived by two sisters, Wanda Kirkman; Christine Hawks, both of Mt. Airy, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Easter was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Bennett Easter; a sister, Josephine Towe and a brother, Arnold Easter. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Ricky Spencer officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by VFW Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time to leave for the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27030.
