Mr. John Ebin Edwards

Mr. John Ebin Edwards, age 86, of Dobson, NC passed away on Monday June 20, 2011 at the Central Continuing Care Nursing Home in Mt. Airy, NC. He was born in Surry County on March 15, 1925 to the late Ebin and Alice Wood Edwards. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Grace Rhudy Edwards; a son J.B. Mayes; a grandson Gary Mayes, He faithfully attended Mount Vernon Baptist Church and was retired from Dobson Trucking. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Sue and Jake Shelton of Dobson;
daughter-in-law Rachel Southard Mayes; grandchildren Rodney Shelton, Melissa Shelton White, James Mayes, Norma Whitaker; great grandchildren Madison Hope White, Karlie Elise White, James Mayes, Dianne Hodges, Misty Johnson, Jason Whitaker; great great grandchildren Ann-Marie Mayes, Chera Hodges, Elijah Hodges, Morgan Whitaker, Nealy Johnson, Kaylan Johnson; sister and brother-in-law Ethel Edwards Southard and Harold Southard of Taylor SC. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday June 22, 2011 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Bill Spurlin and Rev. Roger Sickmiller will conduct the service. His body will remain at Moody-Davis Funeral Home until carried to the church to lie in state 30 min. before the service. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 PM.
