Mr. John Walter Wood

Mr. John Walter Wood, 80 of Mount Airy passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born in Surry County on December 18, 1932 to the late Walter Erron and Mammie Amanda Poteat Wood. Mr. Wood was a retired barber and a member of Day Spring Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are a sister, Frances Jones of Mount Airy and a special nephews, David and wife Beverley Jones of Lowgap,Jimmy and Michael Nesseth of Colorado. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood was preceded i n death by two wisters, Betty Ann Wood and Vivian Amanda Nesseth; and a brother, Charles Walter Wood Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Dayspring Baptist Church by Rev. Roger Pickett and Rev. Ricky Burcham with burial to follow in Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:30 until the time of the service. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the family.
