Mr. Johnny Ray Hayes

Mr. Johnny Ray Hayes, 79, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Golden Living-Surry Community Nursing Home in Mt. Airy. He was born in Surry County on November 28, 1934 to the late Paul and Ethel Reece Hayes. Mr. Hayes was retired from Wayne Farms in Dobson and was a member of Zephyr Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Martha Lou Spencer Hayes of the home; a son, Carlton Hayes of Dobson; grandchildren and spouses, Beth and Lee Atkins, Tracy and Nathan Shores, Justin and Ashley Hayes; great grandchildren, Lillian Dawn Atkins, Autumn Raine Atkins, Brooklyn Storm Atkins, Serenity True Shores, Raygan Paul Shores, Wesson Laine Hayes; sisters and brothers-in-law, Beatrice and Doyt Wagoner of Mocksville, Barbara Ann and Louis Sawyers, Mary Frances and Lee Youngblood all of Burlington; a brother, David Lee Hayes of Mt. Airy; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ronald and Mary Mitchell, Michael Spencer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Junior Hayes. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Key and the Rev. Bobby Lyles officiating. Burial will follow in Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 PM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
