Mr. Joseph Garnett Newman, Jr

Mr. Joseph Garnett Newman, Jr., age 57, of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Newman was born in Surry County on July 12, 1959, to Garnett and Norma McCann Newman. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to so many. He will be dearly missed. Surviving is his wife, Angela Cagle Newman; a son, Austin Joseph Newman; his parents, Garnett and Norma Newman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Sherrie Newman, and Terry and Robin Newman; his father-in-law, Bobby Cagle; his mother-in-law, Shirley Marshall; a niece, Lenzi Cagle; and nephews, Adam Newman and Cory Newman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church by the Rev. Randy Edwards. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to assist with expenses.
