John Paul “JP” Heckman, age 25, of Walkertown, formally of Nesquehoning, PA, passed away Tuesday, December 12 at home. He was born June 10, 1992 in Lehighton, PA to John and Sue (Francisco) Heckman. Following graduation from Panther Valley High School in 2011, JP graduated from the Universal Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC in 2013 and worked as a mechanic at Modern Nissan in Winston-Salem for a year and a half. He then joined the military in February 2015 and served at Fort Carson in Colorado for two years before being honorably discharged. While in the U.S. Army, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon. He recently received his HVAC certification in September 2017. While preparing for a job as an HVAC technician, he enjoyed working locally at Papa John’s as a delivery driver and truly loved and appreciated everyone he worked with. JP truly lived life to the fullest through his involvement in Band, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, where he achieved the rank of Life Scout, and JROTC. He loved the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Mets. A son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, godfather, and friend, JP gave of himself completely. He was a champion for everyone he cared for and would do anything for those he loved. He loved with his whole heart. He is survived by his parents, John and Sue; brother, Teo; sister-in-law, Rachel; niece and goddaughter, Alice; grandfather, John “Mack” Heckman; his godmother, Jean Pangaro; uncle and godfather, Chris Heckman; aunt, Jamie Heckman; uncle, Keith Heckman; aunt Peggy Heckman; uncle Randy Francisco; cousins Megan, Madison, Ian and Carys; and countless other beloved family members and friends. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Bruce and Nancy (Boardman) Francisco; and grandmother, Kathryn (Parano) Heckman. Funeral services will be held at Moody’s Funeral Services, Inc., 206 West Pine Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030 on Monday December 18. There will be calling hours from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Graveside service to be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America Troop 133 (5016 Sitka Rd, Walkertown, NC 27051), the Wounded Warrior Project, or Disable American Veterans.
