Mr. Junior Thomas Slate

Mr. Junior Thomas Slate, age 80 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Slate was born in Patrick County on May 10, 1932 to Ike and Della Branch Slate. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was retried from United Plastics after 35 years of service. Surviving are his loving wife, Irene Simpson Slate of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Michael Daniel of King; sons, Mark Slate of White Plains; Eddie Slate and fiancée Christy Todd; Eric Slate and Mike Slate all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Heath Daniel; Lili Daniel and Mason Slate. In addition to his parents, Mr. Slate was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Goins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Little Mountain Baptist Church by Rev. Bill Watson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Woltz Hospice Home at 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
