Mr. Justin Tanner Elam

Justin Tanner Elam, age 20, of Siloam, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Brenner Children's Hospital of Wake Forest Baptist Health. Born December 6, 1993 to Brian Elam and Margaret Holtam, Justin graduated from Surry Central High School in 2012 and attended the University of Advanced Technology in Tempe, AZ, for one year. Justin was diagnosed with cancer (Ewing Sarcoma) in March 2010 and underwent multiple surgeries and endured 12+ chemotherapy medications and numerous radiation treatments. Justin is survived by his father Brian Elam (Tina Elam) of Siloam, NC; mother Margaret Holtam (Robby Ballard) of Siloam, NC; his sister and best friend Sydney Caitlin Elam of Siloam, NC; grandparents James and Carey Jo Elam of Black Mountain, NC, and Jordan and Elizabeth Holtam of Weaverville, NC; and many other relatives. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Saturday, September 27, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing a scholarship fund in his name.
