Mr. Laurence Hamilton "Larry" Webb, age 87 of Stuart, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born in Whiteville, Tennessee on November 29, 1926 to the late Laurence L. and Lillian Shinault Webb. In addition to his parents, Mr. Webb was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Mobley Webb and a daughter, Debbie Sparks. He retired from the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander with 30 years of service. He proudly served his country during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a Masonic member for 60 years, a member of the Shriners of Roanoke, and a member of The Hillbillies of Galax who helped transport children for treatment in Shriners' hospitals. He was of the Christian faith.
Mr. Webb is survived by three children, Phyllis Whitehead and Teresa LaRosa, both of Stuart, Buddy Sparks of Collinsville, Illinois; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and a very dear friend, Doris Homan of Hillsville.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Wayside Church Cemetery with Pastor Debbie Ginder, Pastor Mickey Rogers and Pastor Keith Vernon officiating and Masonic rites being conducted by Mountain Home Masonic Lodge #263. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
