Mr. Leo Rogers Chatham, age 89 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on June 16, 1924 to the late Lamar Hills Chatham and Sena Pendleton Chatham. He was a member of Reed Island Springs Baptist Church, and had served in the United States Navy during World War II as a radar operator. He was an owner/operator of Chatham Drilling and of Chatham Insulation.
Mr. Chatham is survived by his wife, Mildred B. Chatham of the home; two sons, Verlin Chatham and Roger Chatham, both of Richmond; a step-daughter, Tammy Henderson of Meadows of Dan; a step-son, Tony Bowman of Patrick Springs; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Chatham will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Lonnie Hylton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Burial will be private.
