Mr. Lester Adam Jones

Mr. Lester Adam Jones of Cana, VA passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. He was born in Carroll County, VA on October 6, 1931 to the late Webster and Cassie Berrier Jones. Lester proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and later became owner and operator of the family business, Jones Greenhouse and Nursery. He was a talented orchardist and plantsman. He respected and loved nature and believed in its healing qualities. He was a patient teacher, loving father, uncle and grandfather to so many. He was a dedicated family man his entire life. His compassionate nature will always be remembered by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Betty Jean Jones of the home; two daughters, and son-in-law, Gail and Mike Jones of Cana and Joan Smith of Cana and her friend, Bill Spatcher of Laurel Fork, VA; one granddaughter and spouse, Michella Jones Huff and Kevin Huff of Mt. Airy; two grandsons and spouses, Ross and Mandy Inman of Mt. Airy and Tyler and Christy Smith of Lebanon, TN; four great grandchildren, Seiver Huff, Jansen Huff, Blake Inman and Kaylee Inman all of Mt. Airy; four step great grandchildren, Krystyn and D.J. Haynes of Mt. Airy and Rebel and Logan Houdek of Lebanon, TN; one sister, Blanche Waddell; sister-in-law, Gaye Jones; brother-in-law, Arnold Mooneyhan; nieces and nephews, Jan Lyons, Patty Lyons, Kent Faw, Blake Jones, Ricky Mooneyhan, Gary Mooneyhan, Vicky Johns, Phyllis Bullins and Mike Waddell and many friends. In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by three sisters, Lola Hall, Ruth Lyons and Lynn Mooneyhan; a brother, Howard Jones; three brothers-in-law, Velpo Lyons, Joe Hall and Bernie Waddell; and one great nephew Dusty Mooneyhan. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at the Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will accept friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM.
