Mr. Mahlon C. Harrell

Mr. Mahlon C. Harrell, age 82 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Saturday at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Carroll County on Oct. 25, 1932 to the late Dorsie W. Harrell and Clara Stanley Harrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Cassell; a brother, Gorman Harrell; a sister-in-law, Ruby Harrell; and a brother-in-law, Jack Agee. Mahlon was a charter member of the Meadows of Dan Fire Dept.; a member of the Meadows of Dan Ruritan Club; he was also active on the Electoral Board, Social Services Board, Equalization Board, and ASCS. He was a dairy farmer and an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman.<!--?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /-->

Surviving

are his wife of 60 years, Carol Ann Harrell of the home; one daughter, Carolyn

Harrell and special friend, Terry Lyalls; three sons and a daughter-in-law,

David and Patsy Harrell, Flynn Harrell, Michael Harrell and special friend, Jana

Cassell all of Meadows of Dan; 7 grandchildren, Dennis Harrell and wife,

Shannon, Rachel VanSutphin and husband, Steve, Sissily Harrell, Nathan Harrell,

Chad Pilson, Elliot Pilson, Austin Harrell; three sisters and brothers-in-law,

Velda and Coan Agee of Keysville, Evelie Agee of Meadows of Dan, Reva and

Charlie Lucas of Woodlawn; two brothers and a sister-in-law, William “Bill" and

Geri Harrell of Martinsville, Armond Harrell of Ridgeway; a sister-in-law,

Janet Harrell of Meadows of Dan; a brother-in-law, Donnie Cassell of Meadows of

Dan; and a special caregiver, Anita Coleman.

Funeral

services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Meadows of Dan

Baptist Church with Pastor Lowell Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the church

cemetery. The family will receive

friends Tuesday night from 5 to 8 at the church. Memorials may be made to the Meadows of Dan
