Mr. Marshall Ray Smith

Mr. Marshall Ray Smith, age 70, of Mt, Airy, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Smith was born in Surry County on October 31, 1945 to Edgar Jennings and Grace Easter Smith. He was so loved by everyone who knew him; he will be sorely missed by all his family and many friends. Surviving is his devoted wife, Nancy Holt Smith; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Tia Smith; Eddie and DeAnna Smith; grandchildren, Patience Moore and husband George, Stephanie Hooker and husband Chris, Abryanna Marion and husband Matthew, Hayleigh Smith, Charity Smith, Matthew Smith, Lillian Smith and Chloe Smith; five great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Hicks, Ina Edminston, and Gae Armstrong; a sister-in-law, Ethel Smith and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a sister, Vera York and brothers, Robert Smith and Harry Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Edwards and Rev. Tony Holder. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mountain Post 9436 and Mt. Airy Post 2019. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
