Mr. Marvin Ray Robertson

Mr. Marvin Ray Robertson, 73 of Mt. Airy passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home Thursday, March 29, 2012. He was born in Carroll County, VA on September 4, 1938 to the late David and Hanna Vaughn Robertson. Mr. Robertson served in the U.S. Army; worked for Quality Mills and was a member of Flat Ridge Baptist Church. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patsy Branson Robertson; daughters, Lisa Scales and Rita Williams; sons and daughters-in-law, Mitchell and Paula Robertson; Mark and Rose Robertson, Kenneth Robertson, Darrell Robertson, Brandon and Kelly Robertson; a special granddaughter, Autumn Rae and 14 other special grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Winfred Coe, a brother and sister-in-law, Parlie and Betty Robertson and a special sister-in-law, Linda Kirkman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Robertson was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Robertson, Jr.; two sisters, Myrtle McBride and Edith Jones; and a brother, Carlie Robertson. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Flat Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating and the Rev. Emmett Crotts. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military rites to be conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy where the body will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home and Diane Ramey and Dr. Anderson with Easter Seals for the wonderful care that Mr. Robertson received during his illness.
