Mr. Mont Herbert Byrd, Jr

Mr. Mont Herbert Byrd, Jr., 81 of Mt. Airy went to his Heavenly Home Thursday, July 31, 2014. He was born in Grayson County on March 18, 1933 to the late Mont Herbert Byrd, Sr. and Eunice Rose Delp Byrd. Mr. Byrd retired from management in the textile industry and was a member of the Mount Airy Wesleyan Church. He loved life and relished spending time with his devoted wife of 51 years and their wonderful family. Mr. Byrd enjoyed the time he had to go fishing or hunting and was very happy to teach children of these enjoyable sports. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Wanda Lee Thompson Byrd; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Alfred, Teddy, Barry and Stephanie, Gary and Wanda and Darian and Kristie; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Edwards. In addition to his parents, Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by a son, Terry. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church with Rev. Richard Loman officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 pm at Green Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Dugspur, VA.
