Mr. Nathan Edward Alberty

Nathan Edward (N.E.) Alberty, 73, passed away October 1, 2015 at Select Care, Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC after a lengthy illness. He was born in Dobson, NC on December 17, 1941 to Thelmore Alberty and Peggy Shackleford Alberty. He attended Surry County schools, and graduated from Dobson High School in 1959. His education continued at Wake Forest University where he graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, and was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. Mr. Alberty was a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason, belonging to the Copeland Lodge 390, Surry County, NC.

His love and talent for mathematics led him to a long and accomplished career in accounting. His company, LakeTax Inc., still thrives in the Lake Norman area. He was quite active in its day to day operation until his health required his retirement.Nathan (N.E.) is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Dockery Alberty of the home, and his devoted daughter Patricia and her husband Gary Porter of Mooresville, NC. He is also survived by sister Nancy Alberty Tunstall and her husband Edward of Warrenton, NC, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. He will be very missed by his two dog children, Charlie and Shelby and all his “grand dogs and grand cats”. Nathan was quite the animal lover! Nathan was a gentleman and a gentle man. He never met a stranger, and had many friends from his business endeavors, who will miss him greatly. Prior to his illness there was no greater pleasure for him, than to ride around on Lake Norman on his pontoon boat, or putter around in his garden. He was accomplished at growing anything, and if the mood struck, he would climb onto his antique tractor he restored, and just ride for the love of riding his tractor. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2pm to 3pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 215 West Kapp Street, Dobson, NC. Following will be a “Celebration of the Life” of Nathan Edward Alberty at 3 PM. Burial will follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, Dobson NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Mayberry 4 Paws, 213 Farmbrook Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030, an animal rescue Nathan supported, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank the medical staff of Hugh Chatham Hospital in Elkin NC for their excellent care and kindness shown Mr. Alberty and family during his stay.
