Mr. Ray Woodrow Cockerham

Mr. Ray Woodrow Cockerham age 84 of 631 Factory Street, Mt. Airy, NC husband of Mrs. Lucille Johnson Cockerham passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born February 22, 1930 in Surry County, NC to the late Boggie Cleveland and Maggie Jarrell Cockerham. He was a lead person in the home improvement business. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lucille J. Cockerham of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah (Gail) and Bob Schumaker of Dobson, Sandra and Jeff Beamer of Buford, GA, two grandchildren and spouses, Alan and Jennifer Beamer of Atlanta, GA, Janell and Kevin Monette of Dacula, GA, a great grandaughter, Madeline Beamer of Atlanta, GA; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cockerham was preceded in death by eight brothers, Arlis, Wilson, Willie, Gettis, Raymond, Ronald, Carl and Jim Cockerham. Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at New Life Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Mr. Bruce Mosley. The family will receive friends 9:00 am Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home until time for Mr. Cockerham to be taken to the cemetery for the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
