Mr. Ray Samuel Southern

Mr. Ray Southern, 76 of Dobson, passed away Thursday, July 02, 2015 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born in Stokes County on February 26, 1939 to the late Harvey Samuel and Nellie Nerine Tucker Southern. Mr. Southern worked for over 40 years in grading and paving. He was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Annie Faye Dixon Southern; four daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Ann and Grant Adams, Skeeter Lynn and Mickey Edwards, Shannon Faith and Spencer Freeman and Kimberly Dawn and Mitchell Willard; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rockie Lee and Sherry Southern and Samson Luke and Cynthia Southern; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Southern; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Edna Southern and Harvey and Sarah Southern. In addition to his parents, Mr. Southern was preceded in death by three brothers, Tommy, Alex and Larry Southern. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Collins, Rev. Travis Sechrist and Danny Poindexter officiating. Burial will follow in the People's Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
