Mr. Richard W. "Dickie" Finney

Mr. Richard W. "Dickie" Finney, 80 of Mt. Airy passed away at his home June 3, 2014. He was born on March 15, 1934 in Mason County, KY to the late Paul H. and Lorena Berling Finney. Mr. Finney retired from Surry County School System. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife, Lana Finney. Mr. Finney is survived by two daughters, Amy Abee and husband, Allen of Valdese, NC and Paula Finney of Dallas, NC; a son, Chuck Finney of Shelbyville, TN; four grandchildren, Makenzie Niston and McCoy Abee of Valsese, NC, Ashley Finney-White of Knoxville and Chad Finney of Ripley, OH. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested for memorials to be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
