Mr. Richard Houston Hutchens

Mr. Richard Houston Hutchens, 79, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born in Surry County on July 25, 1935 to the late Earnest and Annie Collins Hutchens. Mr. Hutchens was a retired Farmer, and a member of Blues Grove Baptist church. He was a faithful husband, a loving father, a steward of the land, friend and neighbor. He is survived by his wife, Betty Blackburn Hutchens of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Rachel Hutchens of Mt. Airy, Mark and Vicky Hutchens of Surfside Beach, SC; a sister, Lorraine Hudson of Dobson; two brothers and sister-in-law, Frank and Helen Hutchens of Ralston, NE, Odell Hutchens of Winston Salem; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hutchens was preceded in death by a grandson, Bo Hutchens; two sisters, Faye Southern, and Lillian Clapp; a brother, Kelly Hutchens. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wendell Horton and the Rev. Trent Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
