Mr. Richard William "Rit" Johnson

Mr. Richard William "Rit" Johnson, age 73 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at his home. He was born in New York on February 22, 1942 to the late Percy and Dorothy Griffin Johnson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Johnson. He had served in the United States Marines.

Mr. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Doreen Johnson of West Palm Beach, Florida and Lindsay Johnson of Newburgh, NY; two sons, Jeffrey Johnson of Walden, NY and Christopher Johnson of Woodbine, Georgia; two step children, Danielle Cimorelli of Walden, NY, Michael Adkins of Parkton, MD; twelve grandchildren, Brittney, Tyler, Gianna, Zachary, Evan, Aili, William, Kara, Andrew, Olivia, Alex, Samuel; one great-grandchild, Camden; and a sister, Elaine Turner of Stuart, VA.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Peters Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Terry Ragsdale officiating. A flag presentation will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
