Mr. Richard Thomas Lawson

Mr. Richard Thomas Lawson, age 73 of Stuart, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015 in Wooster Ohio while on his way home from pursuing one of his life's passions which was missions to help American Indians. He was born in Patrick County on May 11, 1942 to the late William David Lawson and Nannie Woods Lawson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by three brothers, Hassell, Bobby and Ronald "Ronnie" Lawson; and a brother-in-law, Steve Goins. He worked in construction for 42 years and owned Lawson Construction and Developers of Mount Airy, Inc.

Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ruth Goins Lawson of the home; one daughter, Melissa Stanley of Collinsville; two grandchildren; one brother, Donald "Donnie" Lawson of Stuart; one sister, Thelma Lawson of Stuart; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Carol Lawson of Stuart; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hubert and Mary Agnes Goins of Claudville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nina and Benny Mabe of Kernersville, North Carolina; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stan and Barbara Goins of Claudville; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Tomaco, Brixi and Bailey.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Chad Harrison and Pastor Mickey Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Collinstown Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home, and other times at the home.
