Mr. Richard William Rogers

Mr. Richard William Rogers, 73, of Mt. Airy went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was born in Patrick County on January 3, 1941 to the late Claude Robert and Sally Ann Anderson Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a fireman with the Mt. Airy Fire Department before becoming owner and operator of Industrial Fire and Safety Inc. and was a member of Grace Moravian Church. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Westmoreland Rogers of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Karen Rogers of Lowgap; three sisters and brother-in-law, Claudia Smith, Gaynell and Mike Shaw all of Mt. Airy, Bonnie Ayers of Stuart, VA; two brothers and sister-in-law, Bob and Polly Rogers, Jim Rogers all of Mt. Airy; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Wallace Smith and Kenneth Ayers. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Grace Moravian Church with the Rev. Charles Fishel and Pastor Jennie Hemrick officiating. Burial will follow in God's Acre. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association P.O.
