Mr. Robert Edward "Ed" Belton

Mr. Robert Edward "Ed" Belton, age 92 of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Belton was born in Surry County on July 28, 1922 to Joseph and Bessie Trail Belton. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during WWII and was retired from Renfro Corporation. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James (Jim) and Sharon Belton; grandchildren, Drew Belton and wife Jessica and Eric Belton and special friend Katelyn Wampler; a great grandson, Jax Belton and his very special caregivers, Daisy Slate and Parabell Hiatt. In addition to his parents, Mr. Belton was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Shelton Belton; sisters, Beulah B. Freeman and Beatrice Belton and a brother, Ralph Belton. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday April 29, 2015 at Shelton Church of the Brethren Cemetery with Rev. Ted Turner and Rev. Rusty Reed officiating. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 on Tuesday night.
