Mr. Robert Franklin Payne, age 75 of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017, at his residence. He was born, March 21, 1942 in Yadkin County to the late Robert Carlie and Julie Ann Money Payne. Mr. Payne was retired from Renfro and Farming. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Thelma Arlene Reid Payne .He is also survived by his daughters; Shirley and Greg Carpenter, Judy and George Music and Pamela and David Johnson; sons, Jerry and Libby Payne, Terry Payne and Ronnie and Wanda Payne; seven grandchildren, elven great grandchildren and two step grandchildren; half-sisters, Linda and Jerry Kidd and Donna and Joshua Farris; half -brother C.L. and Kathy Payne; sister-in-law, Edith Payne; brothers, Columbus (Lum) and Betty Payne and J.C and .Linda Payne; and brother-in-law Wayne and Polly Reid. In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Payne and Wayne Payne; step-mom Lillie Mae Barrett Payne; son, Robert Martin Payne; half- brother Jerry (Pete) Payne; half -sister, Sarah Boyd; and great grandson, Tuff Alexander Johnson. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 6-8 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. The funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at The Community Church with Reverend Ray Hutson, Reverend Charlie Stevens and Reverend Davis Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
