Mr. Rodger Dale Hegler, Sr

Mr. Rodger Dale Hegler, Sr., age 68, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Hegler was born in Davidson County on April 20, 1945 to Paul Isaiah and Myrtle Louise Pope Hegler. He was retired from Brown-Wooten and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving is his devoted wife, Nancy Matthews Mayes Hegler of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and John Gardner of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger Hegler, Jr. of Hillsville, VA, Tig and Carolyn Hegler of Dobson, Neal and Melissa Hegler of Mt. Airy; a step-daughter, Tina Velasco of Mt. Airy; step-sons, John Mayes and wife Pepper of Mt. Airy and Wyatt Mayes of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Sarah Hegler, Emily Hegler, Courtney Hegler, Andrew Hegler, Vanessa Allen, Heather Hegler and Ashley Hegler; eleven step grandchildren; great grandchildren, Jacob Sawyers, Bentley Wade Hull, Coltn Easter; step great grandchildren, Josephine Eleia Mayes, Luke Mayes and Dixie Pauline Gammons; sisters, Barbara Sechrest and Linda Helms both of Lexington and a sister-in-law, Loretta Hegler of Charlotte. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hegler was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Hegler; a son, Anthony Hegler; a sister, Patricia Marion and a brother Paul Hegler. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 21, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Alton Bledsoe and Tig Hegler. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
