Mr. Roger Angus Ball, age 86 of Stuart, VA, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his home. He was born in Downings, Virginia on April 5, 1927 to the late James and Cecil Johnson Ball. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ball was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Via Ball, two brothers and eight sisters. He attended Richmond County Public Schools and served in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed working in maintenance at Horizon Temple in Philadelphia, PA for approximately thirty years. Upon retirement, he relocated to Stuart, VA where he obtained employment with Pocahontas Baptist Church in Basset, VA and worked there for approximately 15 - 20 years. He also became affiliated with Iron Belt Christian Church. He loved fishing, and especially enjoyed visiting and talking with friends and family as much as possible.
Mr. Ball is survived by one brother, Walter Stuart Ball (Maxine) of Warsaw, Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Christine McAlister and Pauline Moore (James) of Stuart, VA and Rose Ball of Pennsylvania; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Ball will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. William Henry Hairston officiating. Burial will follow in the Iron Belt Christian Church Cemetery. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
