Mr. Roger Carson Jones

Mr. Roger Carson Jones, age 64 of Mt. Airy, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at his home after a short illness. Mr. Jones was born in Surry County on February 12, 1950 to Howard T. and Bertie Elizabeth Puckett Jones. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was a long time employee of Pike Electric. Surviving are his devoted wife, Brenda Surratt Jones; a daughter, Melanie Jones Pennington and husband, Mark of Mt. Airy; sons Roger Dean Jones of Kernersville; Michael Ray Jones and wife Krista of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Brett Michael Jones, Riley Grace Pennington, Kaylen Hope Pennington and Karsyn Faith Pennington all of Mt. Airy; step grandchildren, Stacey Renee McMickle and husband, Janson of Galax and Shania Mackenzie King of Mt. Airy; step great grandchildren, Jaden Renee McMickle and Paisley Faith McMickle both of Galax; sisters, Lena Lou Jones of Greensboro and Jennie Lee Holt of Mt. Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Carolyn Jones of Mt. Airy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a brother, William "Dick" Jones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mike Martin and Rev. Woody Flippen. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
