Mr. Roger Dale Slate, Sr

Mr. Roger Dale Slate, Sr., 67, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry County on February 25, 1945 to the late Abraham Lincoln and Mary Magdalene Holt Slate. Mr. Slate was retired from Simmons Vault Company. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Slate and Faye Carol Slate both of Mt. Airy; a son, Roger Dale Slate, Jr. of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren, Tonia Slate, Marie Slate, Amanda Hughes and Brenda Ojodeagua all of Mt. Airy; nine great grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Lovill, Barbara and Don Chandler all of Mt. Airy; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Ethal Slate, Jimmy and Barbara Slate, Donald and Audene Slate, Kenneth Slate all of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Slate was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Anice Allen Slate; a sister, Brenda Slate. A graveside service will be held Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Randy Edwards and Sandy Edwards officiating. Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
