Mr. Ronald "Ronnie" Dean Billings

Mr. Ronald Dean Billings, age 70 of Pilot Mountain, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at his home. Mr. Billings was born in Forsyth County on September 20, 1943 to Paul Dean and Eunice "Tootie" Shore Billings. Following graduation from Kernersville High, Ronnie was accepted as a "fire/police cadet" for Winston-Salem. He served as a Sargent in the Winston-Salem Police Department and was part of the Pistol Team for the department. Ronnie traveled west in 1980 and enjoyed adventures of this "cowboy heroes" for twenty years. He returned to North Carolina in 2000 and retired from Apria Health Care of Winston-Salem in 2013. He was a member of Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Airy. He was a compassionate man with a big heart and smile. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family. Surviving are his wife, Patricia "Paddi" Butera-Billings of the home; sons Rev. Kelly Dean Billings of Kernersville, Patrick Flynt Billings of Singapore, stepson, Michael E. Butera and wife Windie of Mt. Airy; step daughters, Cathy Meek and husband Kurt of Tucson, AZ, Patricia Butera Cambiano and husband Scott of Ft. Myers, FL, Michele Butera Norris of Lakeland, FL, proud grandpa to Amber Meek Esparza and husband Andy of Tucson, AZ, Chelsea Meek Munoz and husband Joseph also of Tucson, Jordan Meek, US Air Force, Layton, UT, Vivian Cambiano, Vincent Cambiano and Vanessa Cambiano and Veanna Cambiano all of Ft. Myers, FL, , Nina Norris and Brianna Norris both of Lakeland, FL, Christopher Butera, Destiny Butera, Saige Horton, Aidan Horton and Kaitlyn Butera all of Mt. Airy; a proud great grandpa "Papa Mater" to Avery, Elijah and Lily of Tucson, AZ, an adopted granddaughter, Ashley Goins of Pinnacle. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Terry Byerly of Clemmons. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Father Lawrence Heiney. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
