Mr. Rossie Lee Dezern

Mr. Rossie Lee Dezern, age 92, of Dobson, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Monday morning at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry County on July 6, 1922 to the late Cleve Ephram Dezern and the late Vertie Cockerham Dezern. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty seven years Christine Elizabeth Draughn Dezern; brothers Paul, Garvie, Lewis, Luther and Foley Dezern. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and was a retired Carpenter, and was a veteran of the US Army having served as a Sergeant during WWII. Rossie loved wood working, and hunting and fishing. Surviving are, one daughter Judy Dezern Creasy of Dobson; one son and daughter-in-law Steve and Debbie Dezern of Dobson; by four grandchildren Michelle and Keith Carter, Misti and Steven Collins, Melissa and Brandon Welch, and Mindy Marion; by six great grandchildren Victoria Carter, Savannah Collins, Corbin Collins, Dannie Lynn Welch and Charlee Mae Welch, and Kendall Welch; one sister Julie Collins of Elkin; one brother Grover Dezern of Mt. Airy. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 2:00 P.M. at Salem Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery with full Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2018 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Rev. Darrell Tate, Rev. Jay Worsley will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. the family will receive friends at other times at the home of his daughter Judy Creasy Vance St. Dobson, NC 27017. His body will remain at Moody-Davis until carried to the church to lie in state 30 Min. prior to the service. The family has requested in lieu of flowers Memorials be made to Salem Baptist Church or to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to give a special thanks to Chatham Nursing Center, Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, and to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the love and care given to their father.
