Mr. Roy Larkin "Junior" Cassell, Jr

Mr. Roy Larkin “Junior” Cassell, Jr., age 80 of Stuart,formally of Bassett Va. passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on May 9, 1932 to the late Roy Larkin Cassell, Sr. and Alice Morrison Cassell. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cassell was preceded in death by one son, Mike Cassell; and three brothers, Paul, Pete and Robert “Bob” Cassell. He had served in the United States Army, was a member of Valley Drive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and was a retired bus driver with the Henry County School System.
Mr. Cassell is survived by his wife, Margaret Marie Hill Cassell of the home; two daughters, Darnell C. Craig and Gayle Martin, both of Bassett; three sons, Douglas Cassell of Martinsville, Perry Cassell of Collinsville and Dean Cassell of Bassett; one step-daughter, Wanda Watson of Critz; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, John Cassell of Ridgeway; and four sisters, Jeri LaRue of Stanleytown, Maggie Mitchell of Fieldale, and Bonnie Blankenship and Martha Robertson, both of Bassett.
Funeral services for Mr. Cassell will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Bobby Rakes officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of his daughter, Gayle Martin at 34 Diamond Drive in Bassett, or his step-granddaughter, Amanda Holt, and husband, Dwight at 2292 Creasey Chapel Road, Stuart.
