Mr. Roy N. Epperson

Mr. Roy Newton Epperson, 85, of Ararat, VA, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of March 1st, 2014. He was born in Ararat, VA on March 10, 1928, son of the late Harry Arnold and Lula Ann Watson Epperson. Mr. Epperson is survived by a loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Josie Boyd Epperson, a son, Gregory Roy Epperson of the home, a son and daughter-in-law, Brent D. and Julie L. Epperson of Forest, VA, a daughter and son-in-law, Carla Robin and Rich Shimko of Frederick, MD. He is also survived by many beloved grandchildren, Richard, Joey, Emily, Austin, Jennifer, Sarah, William III, Olivia, Roy II, and Charles Epperson and great-grandchildren, Tanner, Mason, Abigail, and Justin Epperson; a sister, Mary Lee King, a brother and sister-in-law, Stuart and Nancy Epperson, a sister-in-law, Olive Epperson, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Epperson was preceded in death by a son, Harold Moir Epperson, a sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Buzz Bowman, a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Erlene Epperson and a brother Harry Epperson, Jr. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 4th at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy beginning at 6 pm. Homegoing services will be on Wednesday, March 5th at 2:00 pm at Unity Church in Ararat, VA. Services will be conducted by Pastor Buford Jessup and Pastor Ricky Rogers.
