Mr. Roy Davis Willard

Mr. Roy Davis Willard, age 70 of Westfield, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on October 24, 1943 to the late Dave and Hettie Cole Willard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Willard was preceded in death by one brother, Grady Willard. He was a member of Word of God Baptist Church.
Mr. Willard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley Shelton Willard of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bobby and Penny Willard of Mount Airy, North Carolina and Roger Willard of Westfield, North Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and James Bowman of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Michael Willard, Joshua Willard, Corey Jones, Samantha Willard and Isabella Willard; two brothers, Jim Willard and William Willard, both of Westfield; and one sister, Maxine Ward of White Plains, North Carolina.
Funeral services for Mr. Willard will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Word of God Baptist Church in Asbury, North Carolina with Rev. J. K. Farris and Rev. Ricky Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Church of Christ cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
