Mr. Samuel Joe "Sammy" Holder

Mr. Samuel Joe "Sammy" Holder age 71 of 1844 Maple Grove Church Road, Mt. Airy, NC husband of Mrs. Margaritta Hiatt Holder passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at his home. Mr. Holder was born January 24, 1943 in Surry County to the late Chester and Ola Dobson Holder. He was retired from the NC Department of Transportation and after retiring he worked 12 years for Sowers Construction Company. He was a dedicated scouter for the Dogwood District, Old Hickory Council, BSA. Mr. Holder was a Past Master of Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF and AM. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaritta H. Holder of the home, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ches Holder and Kim of Greensboro, and Owen Holder of Kernersville, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy and Sammy Dehart of Mt. Airy, and Jan and Charles Woodson of Bracey, VA, three nieces and spouses, Sarah DeHart of Mt. Airy, Shelly and Dr. Ben Wilson of Lexington and Amy and Cleve May of Durham and a nephew and spouse, James DeHart and Lisa of` Pinnacle. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Skyline Memory Gardens. The service and Full Masonic Burial Rites will be conducted by Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF and AM. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday at Moody Funeral Home.
