Mr. Spencer Franklin Kirkman

Mr. Spencer Franklin Kirkman age 83 of 190 Freedom Lane, Mt. Airy, NC widower of Mrs. Wyline Lynn Kirkman passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born April 12, 1931 in Surry County to the late Archie and Reba Summerlin Kirkman. He was retired from Scenic Ford where he worked as a mechanic. Surviving are a foster daughter, Sharon McHone of Mt. Airy, a sister, Wilda Tolbert of Mt. Airy, a special friend, Arlene Smith of Mt. Airy and special neighbors, Gilmer and Debbie Hiatt of Mt. Airy. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Kirkman was preceded in death by a foster son-in-law, Ronnie McHone and a sister, Vivian Esther Kirkman and a brother-in-law, Swanson Tolbert. A graveside service will be held 3:30 pm Friday, July 25, 2014 at Midkiff Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:00 pm Friday, at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
