Mr. Thomas Lee Barnard

Mr. Thomas Lee Barnard, 79 of Ararat, VA passed away at his home Saturday, April 18, 2015. He was born in Patrick County on March 4, 1936 to the late Thomas Benjamin and Nettie Myrtle Bowman Barnard. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and was a retired brick mason. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Mae Scales Barnard; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Lee Barnard Cockerham and husband, Darrell, Pamela Jane Barnard Payne and husband, Larry, and Alice Marie Barnard; son, Thomas Jefferson Barnard; five grandchildren, Joshua Cockerham, Ashley Cockerham, Larriet and Justin Haynes, Jordan and Emily Easter, and Audrey Easter; three great grandchildren, Jock Haynes, Leevi Haynes and Railey Easter, sisters, Icy Niten and Marie Thompson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnard was preceded in death by a grandson, First Lieutenant, Leevi Khole Barnard and a brother, Garland Barnard. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joseph Easter officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by VFW Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Burial will follow in the Barnard Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Barnard Family Cemetery, c/o Dorothy Noah, 108 Maple Ridge Lane, Ararat, VA 24053.
