Mr. Thomas (Tommy) Bresnahan, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on Sept 26, 2014. Mr. Bresnahan was born and raised in Blacksburg, VA. He attended Virginia Polytechnic and State University. A veteran of the U. S. Navy, he served during the Korean War as a radar man on the USS Mississippi, a pioneering experimental gunship. After working at Baltimore Paint and Chemical for many years, he later relocated to Hampton, VA where he established the manufacturing process for and then managed a paint manufacturing plant. He retired to Meadows of Dan, VA, back home to the mountains he dearly missed. Mr. Bresnahan was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mabel Bresnahan. He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 57 years, sister, Rosmary Hoffman of Blacksburg, VA; children, Diana Britton of Ashville, NC and Linda and Rick Herstrom of Providence Forge, VA; sister-in-law, Valerie and husband Jimmy Duckworth of Parsons, WV and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 11th at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM.
